The Principe Felipe Science Museum has expanded its interactive science leisure ideas with the new "Science and Sports with Valencia CF" exhibition, where the visitor can see how new technology applicable to sport has evolved over a short time, whilst teaching about scientific and technological principles in a fun way by means of something everyday such as football.
If we talk about a ‘swerve shot’, really talk about the Magnus effect. Behind every play, every shot, every movement of the players, there are many physical concentrated. The exhibition brings together also historical photographs and prestigious awards that it has won over more than 90 years of existence. There also famous strips and a whole series of items to represent the concepts being explained.
The exhibition is complemented by a wide variety of modules devoted to different aspects of science and technology applied to football, as the sport of choice, where visitors will be able to feel like real footballers on the pitch and discover the science of this sport by means of audiovisual comparative competitions and tests featuring the present squad and others where they can find out about technical, refereeing and training aspects of modern football.
New activities in the Oceanogràfic
As well as the latest activities that have been incorporated such as the ‘Penguin encounter’, ‘Yoga under the sea’ and ‘Music for babies’, which are very popular among the visitors, the complex continues to expand with three new proposals related with the sea: a daily display of acrobatic trampoline leaps from 25 metres, and falconry displays and thematic animation, all of which events are accompanied by a message of environmental conservation.
“Flying with dolphins” is a daily activity to complement the displays of the Dolphinarium of the Oceanogràfic in which five acrobats leap from trampolines positioned at different heights of up to 25 metres; they will combine their act with the exercises of the dolphins.
Moreover, every Saturday and Sunday at 13:00 hours, at 16:30 hours on Saturdays, and at 16:00 hours on Sundays, visitors will have the opportunity to witness a raptor display that is also held at the Dolphinarium. Thanks to the flight displays the public will get to know better birds such as eagles, falcons, vultures, and owls, among others.
Dinosaurs and Sea Monsters
From the Umbracle to the Hemisfèric we’ll know the giants of the past. ‘Among Dinosaurs’, the largest exhibition of robotic dinosaurs in Europe, open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Also at the Umbracle, the public can wander round “Ripollés' Universe’ free of charge, which includes 20 sculptures signed by the artist Ripollés. And in the Hemisfèric, in addition to the IMAX film "Hubble. Exploring the Universe", "Giants of the Ocean 3D. Sea Monsters” shows us what life was like at sea for millions of years.
